Adem Supports Announced:

Added on 21/05/08

Hello. It's with great pleasure that I can tell you that Laura Marling and Mechanical Bride are supporting at the Union Chapel show in London.
It is an early starter - make sure you get there for 7:30 so as not to miss anything amazing. I highly recommend that you buy tickets as soon as possible for this show.
Laura Marling will also support in Liverpool and Nancy Elizabeth will be opening in Brighton.

If you're coming to the Brooklyn show at Union Hall, do not miss
Wildbirds and peacedrums and Sharon von Etten

All the artists are really excellent and you'd be mad to arrive late and miss them.

See you soon.

Adem at ATP

Added on 15/05/08

Hello. For those of you coming to ATP curated by Explosions in the Sky - I'll see you there!
We're heading off at about 7am to get to a radio 2 recording session en route at glastonbury, pick up some lunch, and then head into the thick of it.

We have got excellent billing at 10:30pm at Centre Stage on Saturday. Get there early if you want to see us - it's going to be busy and the capacity of the room is a lot smaller than the amount of people at the festival.

Come and say hi.

Adem Takes - New Album out May 12th

Added on 05/03/08

Hello one and all.
Long time no see, haven't you grown, I like your new hair, are you still with so-and so? So, what've you been up to?
Me, I've been doing all sorts of things really, mostly to do with music. Mostly to do with Takes.
Takes is the name of my new record, my third solo album and I'm very excited indeed to be able to tell you all that it's coming out on May 12th. It's a covers album of music that I loved from 1991 to 2001; full listings below. It was recorded at The Pool and The Exchange Live Room Studios. The first time that I've taken my music out of the werehome (house by day, studio by night...). It all sounds brilliant.
It was really difficult to choose tracks, and I’m sure we’ll chat about what I nearly put on, what I should have put on and why.

HOMEFIRES!

Added on 29/04/07

It's Homefires time again, ladies and gents. I'm proud to announce that Homefires IV is taking place on June 2nd and 3rd. It's going to be in the outstanding Conway Hall, as always and I'm looking forward to seeing all your familiar faces and a few new ones being made to feel welcome and at home.
In addition to the classic HF, I've decided to take a taster on the road for all those unable to make the full-on version in the Big Smoke (or for those who want a little bit all over again...)

For those of you to whom this is all sounding a bit unfamiliar, Homefires is a festival I’ve been running for several years, once a year, whenever I can find time to make it happen. It’s a weekend thing set in London. So far it’s always been in Conway Hall, Holborn – the beautiful centre for the Ethical Society. I choose a whole bunch of music from around the world that I like and think others would like too and put it all together over two days.
I’m really excited about it. Here’s a bit cribbed from the official couple of paragraphs:

HOMEFIRES- the antidote to summer festivals - enters its fourth year the first weekend of June (2nd and 3rd). Something of a cherished secret to those in know, Homefires has been showcasing the best of left-field *quiet* music over a weekend each summer in the contemplative surroundings of Conway Hall in Holborn, since Joanna Newsom and Smog first got it together back in 2004.
Homefires tries to put a bunch of people you’d like to see on bill with a load you’ve never heard of but will be glad you did.

There you go. Lovely. This year is full to the brim with outstanding acts over the two days. I’m super excited and will be in the thick of it as always.
Please book your tickets soon, Homefires always sells out and every year I have to disappoint lots of people on the day. It really is a special event for the few that get tickets first.

Come along, say hi and discover some amazing music. Here're some details for you:

What I've been up to lately

Added on 28/04/07

Hey all, just thought I'd let you know what I've been up to since I returned from America (which, it must be said went very well indeed).

I got back to be invited to join Damo Suzuki (the vocalast from the legendary 'Can') and the Elysian Quartet at the south bank centre to perform an improvised set together. It was amazing and I'm currently trying to get hold of a recording that reportedly exists...
the next weekend I played in a Teepee (or tipi as they're fashionably known nowadays) for the Little Big Voice symposium -y type thing where the environment and the power of the individual was explored.
the next weekend I played at the Fistful of Folk event in Finchley and had a lovely evening. In between times I've been organising HOMEFIRES! I can't wait - it's all coming together very nicely and I've also decided to extend a toe outside london to give a taster to all of you unable to come to the big smoke.
Details will follow very soon.
so that's me in a nutshell, I've been recording a bit on my own and collaborating with others with lots of intriguing results - I'll tell you more, I promise.
