Love And Other Planets

Added on 20/04/06

Hey all.
I'm getting pretty excited now - it's official, my second solo album 'Love and other planets' is finished! Much care has been taken to get it just right for you and I am now proud to tell you it will be out on the 24th April. It features 12 tracks and weighs in at just over 45 minutes (which I must say is a very good length for an album). Artwork again by the wonderful Lynn Hatzius. It looks great. It's another concept album. It's about space. And cosmic things. And people. Those of you that have seen me perform live recently will have had a sneak peek at a few of the tracks. The record features the particular talents of Emma Smith (Elysian Quartet, Screamer on the Hill) on the violin, Alex Thomas (Earl Shilton) on the drum kit (yup, drum kit) and the fantastic Emma Macfarlane on backing vocals. I look forward to you all hearing the lot. I know it's a fairly long time to wait, but I thought I'd let you know as soon as I was sure.

So:
Love and other planets. April 24. Can't wait.

  • I was fortunate to catch adem in Lawerence Kansas while opening for Badly Drawn Boy. Are there plans for any dates in the United States? And how can I get the new album over here across the pond?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Hey Adem, Waiting patiently for L&OP to drop thru my door (damn mail order, gotta move out of the sticks). Worn out two copies of Homesongs now: There Will Always Be floors me every time. Hoping the new one is on par with the Lunz remix, which is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. A million thanks and all the best with everything. Curtis.

  • Hey Adem! I can't wait to listen the new stuff!! "Homesongs" is one of my all times favourite albums and I'm sure your second one will be just as good.
Saw you twice at work; in Brugge and Brussels. To be honest I prefered the time when Cameron (I just saw him play with Emiliana Torrini, great show! Didn't know he could also play guitar that well!), Dave and Joe backed you up than the time you played in the Botanique backed up by Emma, King Creosote and another guy.

I'm looking foward to see you play the new stuff.

See you soon in the Botanique!

    All the best,

    Ricardo

  • Well, today I bought the album and listened to it all day, and tonight I saw it played live here in Edinburgh. The album is terrific and the show was equally so. The song 'Love and other planets' as ever the highlight - quite marvellous. Cant wait for the next time.

  • Any chance that the lyrics for the new album will be posted on the site sometime soon?

Your music is so affecting, thank you. There isn't a song of yours that doesn't remind me of a happy memory with friends/ family. Moments they can turn to dreams...

  • Hi Adem
James from Cardiff's student mag here - just putting the finishing touches to the review and interview, I'll bring the magazine along to the Cardiff show. Can't wait! Particularly loving Something's Going to Come at the moment- the lyrics, the shuffling drumbeats...the whole album to be honest. It's a perfect follow-up to Homesongs. Awesome!

Just received the album in my mailbox.
    It's just great!
Homesongs is probably one of my all-time favorite album et certainly the one that gave me the will to finish my first EP.
I'll be tomorrow at the Nuits Botanique in Brussels.
Hope I can leave you a copy of it.

I've just bought LAOP and can't wait to spend the entire weekend listening to it...

By the way, is there a chance you might come and play Germany one of these days?

  • I saw Adem supporting Divine Comedy at Bath and was one of the many who bought the CD in the interval and its one of those I keep coming back to. I saw the second and the bloke in HMV said it wasn't as good as the first. While its not as immediate as Homesongs it's certainly growing and if you really listen to the lyrics its quite a very well crafted album.

  • It works because reputable writers make links to things they consider reputable sources. So readers, when they find something distasteful or unreliable, don't just hit the back button once, they hit it twice. They remember not to follow links again through the page which took them there.

  • I thought that the WTO would be a good start for transforming the process of government at least across national borders. I quite like the idea of using the secretariat of the WTO as the centre for a Wikipedia of trade - a sort of open source world government at least for a very specific and complicated issue which needs many brains to provide a solution.
