Nought degrees of separation

Added on 05/01/07

I should have told you about this a while ago - I can barely contain my excitement.

Along with Emma and Vince from the band, I'm going into a practice studio on Sunday for five days. Also heading to the same room in Hackney are elements from Vetiver, Vashti Bunyan & band and Juana Molina. We are going to work out versions of our songs to share between us. After the rehearsals, we're taking what we've done around the UK under the title '0 degrees of separation'. Loads of information about it can be found here, at the CMN website. I'll put the dates on the live page so you can check them straight away. We're doing eight shows. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens - It's going to be a fantastic show... now to work out who's playing what, when and how we're going to fit eleven of us on stage at once.

  • Just wanted to pass on my congratulations and thanks for the amazing show last night in Camden. Incredible that so much good music could be crammed into one night (and on the one stage!) To be honest, I hadn't heard the music of any of the artists before last night, I was just intrigued by the concept. By the time it was over, I was a fan of yours and everyone else who graced the stage. Thank You!

  • I think I've never cried at a show as I did yesterday at the Roundhouse. The emotion was so strong I couldn't stop my tears. You were all amazing. Pure otherworldly beauty. Thank you so much.

  • And more congratulations (and a deeply felt thank you) for a wonderful evening. My skin hasn't stopped prickling yet!
    Absolutely exquisite.
One of the best music events I've ever been to. Well done!!!

  • Thank you for such a fantastic gig on Saturday.
It was my first of the year, and I think it's going to be a very hard one to top. I was already very familiar with everyone's music except for Juana Molina, and I spent the weekend tracking some of her stuff down after seeing her incredible solo performance. Stunning stuff.
Not enough of your songs though, Adem... ;)

  • Hi Adem,

I think you should definitely take this tour abroad. It's an incredibly great combination of artists, and I cannot wait to see the four of you play in a venue here in Groningen, for instance. I think you would quite some interest in such a tour here.

Hope to see you back soon.

    Martijn
(you let me play the little organ on last years Eurosonic festival after the show)

  • Was at the gig in Brum last night. It was like a dream. Suvch a beautiful experiment Adem. So non-genre, non-ego. Can we clone you? "Love on other planets " with bells on was a highlight as was vashti's "Pillow". Desperate for statued though. Love Stephen

  • Lots of comments here re the Brum gig. What a fantastic night, it will live long in my memory.
Thanks so much for doing this Adem. All the egos seemed firmly locked away and the music was the main thing. Wonderful.
And I think I've fallen in love with a woman who could be my mother...

  • Saw your last gig of this tour, at City Varieties, Leeds. Absolutely amazing, in a world where everything sounds the same you came up with something totally different! Real hairs on end stuff. Thanks!

  • I was not disappointed in Glasgow. I was very ill before I went to the show, but managed to get to the front row and thought it was brilliant. Don't take this the wrong way, Vashti Bunyan sent me to sleep, but in a good way. Very emotional stuff. I bought records afterwards and saw James Yorkston at the bar. Beautiful. Chris X

  • The Bristol gig was stunning, especially the first half. I am not a huge fun of any of the other three acts but I thought that the collaborations were awesomely powerful, even enhancing Adem's beautiful songs. I have not been able to find the free downloads that were advertised and will be disappointed if I never hear that music again..... in other words, adem, i am hinting that you should release a O degrees album. Thanks for a corker.. with bells on

  • I was also at the Bristol gig and enjoyed it immensely - what an excellent venue! I love St.Georges Church, and this music was perfectly suited to it. I especially loved the opener - Been So Long. That has pretty sentimental conotations for me.

    Thanks so much!
